What if this becomes our new normal?
ISLAMABAD: The year 2020 might be remembered as the year in which the Covid-19 pandemic engulfed the entire world. Perhaps decades from now, history will be divided into the pre-corona and post-corona era, and this year’s archival material may be depicted as a scene from a horror movie. Our descendants will be in disbelief as to how the situation unfolded and how the world reacted. The crisis might be thought of as a lesson for those in the future. Or perhaps everything may be different.
What if this becomes our new normal? What if future generations will live under constant fear of frequent pandemics that could suddenly emerge at any second? The future world then might seem like a dystopian dream that our grandchildren will not be ready for.
The truth is that we are not just responsible for our own destiny but our actions also shape the future world. Therefore, predicting what the future might hold has immense significance, especially during the pandemic crisis. We need to fight back against this virus, not just for our sake but also for the sake of our children. Let future generations look upon this as a time when humanity came together in the face of the greatest biological threat known to mankind. Let’s overcome this pandemic and create history together.
