The international community continues to maintain silence about the ordeal
LAHORE: As countries around the world marked the World Press Freedom Day on Sunday, Kashmiris under siege by the brutal Indian military seem to have forgotten the meaning of the word freedom. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a constant atmosphere of violence and intimidation as Modi’s authoritarianism persists in IOK.
It has been reported that Kashmiri media representatives and journalists are under the dagger of New Delhi. They continue to face violence and harassment whilst being kept under India’s keen eyes. Information being sent in and out of the country is heavily restricted and monitored as attacking the media is the only effective way to suppress the voices and cries of the Kashmiris.
The international community continues to maintain silence about the ordeal as they refrain from poking their fingers into such a tense situation. Pakistan, on the other hand, constantly calls for some action to liberate the Kashmiris and would continue to do so.
People in India need to realise that the BJP government is spreading false ideology and hatred against Muslims under the guise of a twisted form of Hidutva. The illusion of democracy is clearly evident when a secular government instigates widespread violence.
