Deplorable healthcare

The health sector in Pakistan has been struggling for many years.

KARACHI: The health sector in Pakistan has been struggling for many years. People living in urban areas have a relatively easy access to best healthcare facilities whereas in rural areas accessibility to proper medical services is difficult. People either live far away from the hospitals or they don’t have any such institutions in their areas.

In Pakistan, many efforts have been made to improve to health system but no improvement has yet been witnessed. Poor medical facilities have resulted in the deterioration of the health of the underprivileged people in Pakistan. Due to shortage of nurses, doctor and equipment in rural areas, every year thousands of children die either during birth or from common diseases. The increasing number of heart patients in these areas is also alarming.

Major efforts need to be made to improve the healthcare system of our country. Corrupt elements seem to prevent that from happening. Perhaps, a future government will turn things around.
