The citizens of the country need to be more aware of how to act responsibly
ISLAMABAD: Underage driving is one of the major causes of accidents in our country. Teenagers often lose their lives because of this lethal pastime activity. Affluent parents submit to the wishes of their children without thinking about its bad side and allow their children to take their car out for a spin. Unfortunately, a new teenage culture has emerged of late, and negligent parents are mainly responsible for that. Many children think that it is cool to take friends out for a drive and risk the lives of others just for their own fun. In their attempts to impress their friends by speeding, young drivers often meet with accidents. Most accidents show that cars lose control because of inexperienced underage drivers resulting in serious injuries — and even deaths.
The lethal practice, however, continues because these teenagers use the power of their families to escape any police action and carry on with what they consider a pastime activity. They continue driving around the city carelessly putting their own lives and those of others in danger. This is where there is a need to discourage and put a check on the use of power in support of corrupt practices.
The citizens of the country need to be more aware of how to act responsibly. It is important that parents go strict on their children and keep a watchful eye on the activities they indulge in. Teenagers too need to stop being selfish and act more responsibly.
The biggest responsibility, however, rests with the government which must impose a high penalty on underage driving — and ensure its enforcement too.
