There is a need to devise a solution that could solve the problem completely and not just one side of it
RAWALPINDI: As we all know that during a recent address, our Prime Minister had announced that due to the coronavirus lockdown in the country, many businesses have been shut down, leaving many people with no source of income. While a big population is struggling to make both ends meet, those who have to pay house rents are in a bigger trouble. If they have no income, how will they be able to pay for anything? To overcome this problem, the PM had said that tenants would be exempted from paying their rents this month. But this is only one side of this problem. What about the landlords for whom these rents are their lone source of income? What are they supposed to do in such a situation? Many landlords have agreed not to take rent from their tenants but what about those who mainly depend on these rents? They also have their liabilities like utility bills and their children’s school fees. And they have also to pay for groceries. I know many people in my surroundings who completely depend on the rent they get from their tenants. There is a need to devise a solution that could solve the problem completely and not just one side of it. Many people who live solely on these rents have been left high and dry. I, therefore, request the government not to look at this situation from one angle.
