This is the time and opportunity to reset ourselves
SUKKUR: The world before the Covid-19 was a place full of biases, inequality and discrimination. Humanity seemed to have died. Values seemed to have perished. Goods around us had more value than people. We started to value people based on the material value they possessed. The thirst of having more and more to fulfil our material wants blinded us. We forgot social norms, moral values and criminally compromised our integrity. Were we not seeing vividly that how our material greed was leading us to destroy nature? The natural calamities and extreme climate change events were the hue and cry of mother nature. It was saying that we are killing it because we were depleting the resources faster than it could regenerate. History reveals that how societies in the past eroded and reached the brink of a complete meltdown.
This is the time and opportunity to reset ourselves. Let’s remember a lesson of our being and take an oath for upholding respect, patience, tolerance, kindness, integrity, truthfulness and mutual support should be the key objective of our lives. Anything that violates any of it, discard it. Let humanity be the yardstick of everything we do in life. Every religion, ideology, and social theory opposes conflict and violence. We need to rethink that where we have lost it. It is here around us, just need to find it. Let’s find the lost opportunity for the survival of our kind.
