World Theatre Day

Letter March 27, 2020
I urge the government to support and promote this idea.

ISLAMABAD: World Theater Day is celebrated on the 27th of March by all theater-loving communities and countries, including Pakistan. The purpose is to resuscitate the missing spirit of folk theatre. The celebration of theater serves as a resilient medium to spread awareness about the significant place of the performing art with a representation of social iniquities in an entertaining way. Pakistan is a country known for its folklore but sadly at the present times we are losing the identity pertaining to theatre and forgetting the values of art. Celebrations of this day in Pakistan will help to restore the significance of folk theatre whether it be online with the help of social media, considering the situation across the world. Pakistan is facing so many issues, and these activities will help people to get some form of relief from these problems so that they can express themselves through another medium. The private sector is playing an important role to revive the culture of theatre, but without government support it is impossible to regain the value of folk theatre in Pakistan. I urge the government to support and promote this idea.
