Healthy eating

Letter March 23, 2020
Parents should instill healthy eating and proper table manners in their children from an early age.

KARACHI: Adults, as well as children, need to consume healthy food in order to have a balanced diet. Those of you who have been in boarding schools have surely missed all the nicely cooked home food. Since you are on holidays, this is the right time for every child to eat healthy. Carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and fibres are important to keep your body and mind healthy. The amount that you take needs to be varied. When these foods are well cooked and eaten, many diseases can be prevented.

In addition, children should not forget to have good table manners. Talking while chewing is an example of bad table manners. It is important to wash your hands before and after eating food. When children learn good table manners, they will avoid future embarrassment while on a table with visitors or in public places like restaurants. Parents should instill healthy eating and proper table manners in their children from an early age.
