I urge the government to fix all public toilets as they remain in very bad conditions.
WAH CANTT: Dirty public toilets are among the many different public issues that persist all across Pakistan. More than half of public washrooms across the country, including pay-to-use ones, are dirty as whoever provides the toilet thinks think that cleaning it would be a waste of time and money since they won’t be using it themselves. It is impossible to use such toilets but the people have no choice. The waste piles up inside these toilets making it impossible to breathe inside while the other alternative is to defecate in open spaces.
Our religion focuses on hygiene and cleanliness of oneself and others. People are unaware that the problem reflects their own poor toilet culture. Unfortunately to most people, cleaning toilet is not important.
A high standard of maintenance and cleanliness for public services such as washrooms is desirable and the responsibility that comes with achieving it is very often missing. Therefore, some measures should be taken to improve their cleanliness. We should keep in mind that an effective cleaning system does not necessarily mean higher costs. I urge the government to fix all public toilets as they remain in very bad conditions.
