ISLAMABAD: Women empowerment is all about equipping and allowing women to make life-determining decisions so that they become self-sufficient and equal members of our society. They should be allowed to work with equal pay through equal opportunities. But the ideology behind women empowerment is tarnished through slogans was like “Mera jism meri marzi” that are taken out of context. Understanding such terms without understanding the plight of women is harmful and disrespectful to women rights.
The use of words and the meaning interpreted from them are extremely important. No one will be offensive if you don’t use a wrong word for the right cause. No one bothers you if you work for the women empowerment. No one judges you by your dress by your language and the way you sit or stand in public unless it is offensive.
We girls are everywhere in the society. We work in offices, in hospitals and in schools. We represent our country internationally and in other aspects of life too. We work in the media industry and showbiz industry as models, as actors and as an anchor. We study in universities as well.
Women should work practically so that societal injustice may finish. It is important to march for rape victims, for child abuse, for child marriage and for human rights.
