ISLAMABAD: What needs to be understood is that, regardless of the issue, abuse of any human being is immoral and unethical. It is not gender specific; therefore such acts cannot be justified whether it is a man or a woman. Someone who cannot stand another person’s opinion or point of view should debate on public forums so he or she does not become aggressive.
There has been extensive debate on social media about the slogan “Mera Jism Meri Marzi”.We should support Aurat march because even in the 21st century women are being oppressed. We should fight for their rights. Do not criticise the concept, but ethically or rationally disagree with the slogans. Aggression and abuse are not acceptable. There needs to be a focus on women’s real rights, not on state liberalisation. There are many serious issues that need to be addressed such as harassment, domestic violence, child marriage, child abuse, and honour killing.
