Schools should educate our youth about the mitigation measures by arranging seminars or workshops
KARACHI: Coronavirus (COVID-19) is exacerbating, as many countries have been affected by this epidemic. Death tolls are increasing by the day. In this context, the government of Pakistan including all provincial governments is taking actions to reduce the panic, which are appreciable, but the recent notification by the Sindh government about the closure of educational institutions for 13 days is unwise. Rather than educate our youth about the mitigation measures by arranging seminars or workshops, the decision will be playing the role of an abettor to the lethal disease.
A province which already has an unsatisfactory educational system cannot be the bearer of this huge educational loss. The decision by the Sindh government would further spoil the condition by attracting unnecessary gathering in the marketplace, playgrounds, etc. and will ultimately lead to an academic loss for students. I request the chief minister to look into the matter and reassess the decision to end the misery of students and their parents.
