Kashmir Solidarity Day

Letter February 06, 2020
Kashmiris have long been giving great sacrifices for freedom

KARACHI: Kashmir Day is also known as Kashmir Solidarity Day. It was first proposed by Qazi Hussain Ahmed, leader of Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan, in 1990. After that, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif changed it to Kashmir Solidarity Day. All political parties of Pakistan observe February 5 as a day of solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren. All Pakistani people assemble to protest against India that has occupied Kashmir forcefully. The people of India also stand united with the Kashmiri people against the Indian government. The people of both countries organise rallies, processions, conferences, and seminars to show their devotion towards their Kashmir brethren. The Kashmiri people have been living in an atmosphere of fear and misery since 1948. As a matter of fact, the whole world knows that the Indian occupation forces have made the lives of poor Kashmiris miserable. Why are big powers acting as silent spectators? Where are global media and global communities? Why do they not talk about the Kashmir issue? I request nations all around the world to stand up for what is right and call out India for their heinous crimes. India should know enough is enough. It can no longer keep Kashmiris under its servitude. Kashmir shall soon throw off the Indian yoke and India’s tyrannical rule shall end. Kashmiris have long been giving great sacrifices for freedom.
