Female education in Balochistan

Letter February 01, 2020
Due to schools being far, parents feel frightened and do not allow their daughters travel such long distances

TURBAT: Compared to K-P, Punjab and Sindh, Balochistan lags way behind in educating girls. They are deprived of fundamental rights like education in an era when thousands of females have come forward in the international forums. One of the reasons of the exclusion of female in the education sector is the high fee. Furthermore, school distance is another reason. Due to schools being far, parents feel frightened and do not allow their daughters travel such long distances. Most of the girls are out of school by grade six. As a result of these conditions, females in Balochistan remain out of school. The ratio of female dropouts in Balochistan is the highest compared to the rest of the country. Thus, the government is supposed to work to bring the females into classroom rather than discourage them from receiving education. They too deserve to be educated.
