Tragedy in Yemen

he Muslim Ummah must take notice of this situation and join hands to end this conflict

ISLAMABAD: More than 100 Yemeni soldiers have been killed and 168 injured while offering prayers at a mosque in a military base. Neighbouring countries are fanning the fire and there appears to be no improvement in the civil war torn country. There are brief quiet periods in the region, which are followed by massive bloodshed. Sustainable de-escalation is only possible by the intervention of the UN with a firm and resolute intention. Thousands of people have been killed and millions displaced in the war-torn country that has pushed it to the brink of famine. A landmark agreement was reached in Sweden in December 2018 that provided a chance to end the fighting but its slow implementation quashed any such hopes. Moreover, a proxy war of Iran and Saudi Arabia in Yemen has turned the country into a battlefield, causing mammoth sufferings to the people of Yemen. The Muslim Ummah must take notice of this situation and join hands to end this conflict.
