It is a high time we put our heads together to devise a strategy to combat climate change
BALOCHISTAN: The world has experienced many different forms of threats. They might be in the form of terrorism, instability of political regimes, global financial crisis or the food scarcity but almost always the sphere of their influence were restricted to a specific area. Now a fire is rushing towards us with full momentum, having much potential to engulf the whole planet; it is the fire of climatic change. According to a report by the BBC, the last decade was the hottest we have ever seen in history. The glaring examples of glaciers melting in Antarctica, bush fires in Australia, ozone depletion in New Zealand and even disappearing of entire island’s in the US are before us . Still, superpowers and the custodians of the UN have turned a deaf ear towards these burning problems. A pretty soul in the form of Greta Thunberg tried her best to spread awareness about the importance of tackling climate change but it proved to be a cry in wilderness. The failure of the Kyoto protocol and the Paris summit also testifies the veracity of claim that the west is more inclined to maintain its status quo rather mending the environmental catastrophes. The increase in global temperature and seasonal variations are a bad omen for the future of our off-springs. The statistical data from different localities have confirmed the excessive amount of carbon dioxide and CFCs presence in our atmosphere. However, the industrial revolution has filled our stomachs but it has enervated our lungs to keep pace with our body. It has also deprived us from the availability of pure oxygen for breathing. It is an high time we put our heads together to devise a strategy to combat this menace rather than expecting from an angel to change our fate.
