Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated dramatically after the US air raid
KARACHI: With the US killing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qasem Soleimani, the political heat across the Middle East has risen. President DonaldTrump through this attack clearly gives the message that although presidential elections are around the corner, the election campaign cannot affect his aggressive approach. President Trump has also been criticized for taking such an aggressive step that may open a fresh avenue of war in the Middle East. Critics are also saying that Trump took such a decision to divert people’s attention from the process of impeachment.
Soleimani was one of the most powerful and influential personalities in Iran. Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated dramatically after the US air raid. Iran has vowed to take revenge saying that they will ‘strategically retaliate’ in a way that will eventually end the US presence in the Middle East. Their retaliation will be well-planned and will aim towards achieving major goals.
Continuing his aggressive tone, President Trump has warned that in case of any kind of retaliation, the US will target 52 sites in Iran. He stated that this time our attack will be ‘very fast and hard’. The tone of the US president, being boastful and egotistical,, really boggles one’s mind. The US has already been engaged in so many fronts lately. Now opening another avenue of a major war can have serious repercussions. Oil prices have already risen to new heights and will likely rise even more. Being threatened by this attack, Iran may also expedite its process of becoming a nuclear power.
