Govt should reach out to all political parties to forge unity so that we stand united to support our armed forces
LAHORE: It is unfortunate that India today is ruled by Hindu supremacist group led by Modi. This man can go to any extent to appease his political base who believe in the Hindutva ideology. Within months of changing the constitutional status of India-Occupied Kashmir (IOK), his party, through brute majority, has managed to enact the Citizenship Amendment Act, which has led to mass unrest nationwide.
Protests against the citizenship act are not only confined to Indian Muslims but have angered others who fear that this would ultimately lead to clashes between Hindu Upper Caste supremacist, Dalits and members of other faiths and ethnic groups, etc, given the zero tolerance that the RSS has for others. In such circumstances, we have witnessed that whenever groups such as the RSS, the KKK and the Nazi Party have been in power, they suddenly go on a rampage and sanity is the first casualty.
Given the backlash and the country-wide demonstrations against the citizenship act, it is most likely that Modi’s government may, in an effort to divert attention, embark on an adventure against Pakistan especially along the Line of Control. PM Modi and his party leaders have already expressed their evil desire to occupy Azad Kashmir and go even beyond to have a common a border with Afghanistan.
Given the dangers that Pakistan faces, it is shocking that the federal government and important state institutions are too busy embroiled in egoistic pursuits like focusing on the Pervez Musharraf case and harassing political opponents. There exists a functioning judiciary in this country and a written constitution, which should be allowed to perform their assigned role judiciously and transparently within the confines of the law. The government should reach out to all political parties to forge unity so that we stand united to support our armed forces to meet any eventuality.
