The increasing religiosity is making people think that their existence in this life is meant to be a hard.
FRANKFURT: In her article of July 18, titled “Eat Pray. Prey No Love”, Ayesha Tammy Haq is absolutely correct. Pakistan has been drifting from a slightly liberal society to a more and more religious society, and this has also meant that other thoughts and cultures are being excluded. Also, the increasing religiosity is making people think that their existence in this life is meant to be a hard and unpleasant one, which may go against people’s natural instincts, i.e. to enjoy life while they can.
What people in Pakistan need to do is — that is, if they can — to live life to the fullest; enjoy the films, theatre, or even the fresh air (if they happen to live in unpolluted surroundings). And also, they should let others live the way they (the others) want to live and not meddle or impose their views on the rest of society. People should have the freedom to choose, so that they are able to make a choice regarding what they do and do not want to do.
Here I would like to quote Buddha who said that one should not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
