A wake-up call

Letter December 19, 2019
It is the duty of the state to provide security to its citizens but unfortunately our guardians are busy in blame game

KARACHI: Nowadays news of mugging, rape, kidnapping, killings are being heard and listened on a daily basis. This is a matter of concern. As a nation, this is a disgrace for us. We are so helpless in countering these issues it seems no one is interested in raising their voice against these evils.

It is the duty of the state to provide security to its citizens but unfortunately our guardians are busy in a blame game, which is more important for them because they know that the citizens will never come forward to hold them accountable. We are divided on caste, religious, ethnic lines and cannot stand united. Our law enforcements are so corrupt that the common people are afraid to approach them for help. We need to understand that these heinous crimes are increasing by the day. We have to take bold actions to curb them. For this, we need to work together with the government and remind them that the citizens are in distress. Either that or we bury our loved ones who are less fortunate and become victims of these crimes.
