Malik Ishaq’s release (II)

Letter July 17, 2011
The released due to lack of evidence is a good sign that at the very least our courts are applying the law rigorously.

TORONTO: While some people will be understandably very upset by Malik Ishaq’s release, they need to understand that the court’s hands were probably tied, in that there actually may have been insufficient evidence against him. We should also remember that the man was in jail for over a decade and the police should have produce some evidence in this time to convict him, but it failed in doing so. In a sense, the fact that he was released for lack of evidence is a good sign that at the very least our courts are applying the law rigorously.
