Children and phones

Letter December 09, 2019
Parents and guardians should realise that their yearning for mobile phones is getting transferred to their children

ISLAMABAD: Phones are considered the easiest mode of communication. However, excess of everything has an adverse reaction. Nowadays, mobile is a technological device that has become as necessary as oxygen. Even schools and other educational institutions are not mobile-free. Sometimes one is surprised when one sees school-going children holding phones in their hands. At such a young age, being mobile accustomed is actually affecting the life and studies of students. When the children watch other people around them using their phones continuously, it automatically develops their fascination towards this magical device.

There was a time when a child would demand small presents such as a toy or cycle. But now priorities have changed. A phone opens the doors of communication with the world without any barriers. A child is not mature enough to differentiate between right and wrong because of which they may indulge in wrong or harmful activities. Furthermore, it has harmful effects on a child’s health — mentally and physically. Parents and guardians should realise that their yearning for mobile phones is getting transferred to their children. If you want your child not to adore and worship their phones, then minimise the use of mobile yourself too.
