Need for blood bank

Letter December 05, 2019
The provincial government should establish a blood bank in the village at the earliest

RAWALPINDI: Every citizen in this country is blessed with some important rights. Among these we habitually do not consider the availability of a blood bank as a right that should be provided to everyone. There are numerous patients who need timely blood transfusion. However, many are devoid of this necessity as they live in areas where there are no blood banks.

Multan Khurd, a small village of district Chakwal in Punjab, is one of the highly populated villages in the region but it lacks a blood bank. Patients have to travel long distances to get a blood transfusion done. This not only takes time and money but could also prove deadly for those whose health conditions are too critical for travelling such distances. The provincial government should establish a blood bank in the village at the earliest. As a stopgap arrangement, a mobile blood bank can also be established.
