Basic facilities for all

If someone tries to raise their voice against injustice, they face bad consequences

ISLAMABAD: According to a Unesco report, out of the illiterate people in the world there are 774 million females. Two-thirds of women cannot read and write. Female literacy rate is highest in Nigeria, Ethiopia and Pakistan. Aged 15 to 24 year, 116 million girls in developing countries do not complete primary education or learn any vocational training. Unesco and 44 other organisation are working in Pakistan since 2017 but unfortunately illiteracy, health and environmental issues are increasing by the day. This is because our institutions and organisations are under the influence of politicians and feudal lords who have their monopoly and say in almost everything, which they use for their own personal gains. The common people have to bow down to the orders of these leading few, otherwise the consequences for them will be dire. Just three days ago a woman lost her son due to lack of injection in District Hospital Dadu. Such cases occur everywhere in rural Sindh. Furthermore, feudal lords use educational institutions as their guest houses. Basic facilities are not provided to the poor while these people plan elaborate celebrations and use such venues. If someone tries to raise their voice against injustice, they face bad consequences. As a result no one wants to resist. We urge the government of Sindh to take action about it.
