KARACHI: It is shameful to see that perhaps one of the most important roads the Korangi Crossing Causeway road has been neglected for many months now.
Being a connection point of great importance for both the people of Korangi and the people of Defence who commute daily for offices and industries from either side, it has become very difficult for people to commute daily. The Korangi industrial Area is one of the most important sites for the whole of Pakistan as it generates the most revenue. The road is dilapidated and riddled with potholes. The ignorance on the part of the authorities and the nation as a whole regarding this issue is baffling. Heavy vehicles, motorbikes and cars travel on it non-stop.
The danger is always there due to the number of pits, as stones are protruding in patches rendering the road vulnerable to accidents. After heavy rainfall last year, there is much repair required but the authorities are not paying any attention even after numerous major accidents.
People using this route on a regular basis, including myself, face countless inconveniences on a daily basis. During the night and especially after sunset, the danger doubles for all light transport vehicles. On average calculation, a minimum of 20 to 30 vehicles crossing the road per minute during peak hours.
Promises are always made from many authorities, but they remain to be fulfilled. The people of Korangi deserve better infrastructure and the administration should take the necessary steps to repair this causeway. This could be a first step for motivating those who are still silent and would like to speak up for their issues.
