In order to eliminate such violence, immediate measures should be taken to reduce such huge figures of violence
SUKKUR: On International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, many international organisations provided statistical analysis and proof regarding such violence. According to the UN, approximately 15 million adolescent girls aged 15 to 19 have experienced forced sex at some point in their lives globally. In addition to this, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), every 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical and/or sexual violence, and it is very saddening that this violence comes by an intimate partner who could be husband, relative, colleague or parent.
Women and girls represent half of the world`s population, and yet, not a single country has been able to achieve gender equality. Instead, women are now fighting collectively to get their rights by running feminist campaigns like MeToo, TimesUp and many more. But such campaigns are receiving backlash in countries like Pakistan which are putting back such crucial issues and diverting the attention of people. Unfortunately, such campaigns have become a joke because they have lost their true essence.
In order to eliminate such violence, immediate measures should be taken to reduce such huge figures of violence. We need proper implementation of a system that curbs this evil in all aspects. Moreover, we should stop blaming the victim if she is going to raise her voice. People should also donate to organisations that empower women. Last but not the least, we should educate our next generation so that this evil can be eliminated from our society. Every woman deserves the right to feel save everywhere.
