Rising suicide rate

According to a World Health Organisation (WHO) report, every 40 seconds a person attempts suicide

ISLAMABAD: According to a World Health Organisation (WHO) report, every 40 seconds a person attempts suicide. The case is no different in Pakistan where every hour a person commits suicide, especially in rural Sindh. This burning issue is creating a lot of trouble for society. Why many people are committing suicide every year? Directly and indirectly, somehow we all are responsible for it because we haven’t understood the problem. Recently in Ghotki, 20-year-old Munir publicly committed suicide on a Facebook live stream. We hear about such cases on a daily basis. Mostly teenagers commit suicide because our children become victims of bullying and harassment in schools, colleges, universities, workplace and public place. They can’t share their problem with others because they think that if we share our problem with our family we will lose their trust. They will also be barred from any further ventures.

Parents need to overcome the communication gap and give their children time. They need to create a healthy environment where their children can share everything they face publicly or privately.
