The constant misuse of internet has destroyed the whole set of values for young adults
KARACHI: Sexual harassment is real. It has become increasingly common at workplaces and at public events. Women are not safe working in such toxic environments as there is lack of security. We have now started to witness it indoors too.
The victims of such shameless behaviour do not speak up because they are afraid. Once being harassed by these individuals, victims become timely resistant to their acts and keep moving forward with their own lives because if they speak up or take a bold step towards raising their voice, they might get kicked out of reputable organisations and stigmatised as a victim of harassment. Women are no longer safe from their own relatives.
The constant misuse of internet has destroyed the whole set of values for young adults. One should pay heed towards this issue which is increasing at an alarming rate. Awareness related to sexual harassment and the importance of speaking up should be created among youth and especially among common people in poor communities. A single step towards enlightenment can save many people from constant humiliation and fear.
