Tyranny in IOK

Letter November 04, 2019
The current situation in IOK is heartbreaking and totally against humanity

RAWALPINDI: The Kashmir issue is the biggest hindrance to normalisation of peaceful relationships and harmonious accord between Pakistan and India, causing three wars in 1948, 1965 and 1971. It is because of the geographical importance of Kashmir, India occupied it after the partition of the subcontinent in 1947. The US resolutions of August 13, 1948 and January 5, 1949 accepted that there should be a plebiscite under the UN to resolve the issue. Pakistan favoured the viewpoint of giving Kashmiris freedom and liberty about their future choice.

During these days, India is attempting to suppress the voice of the Kashmiri people and their liberation movement using the power of forces. Kashmiris are undergoing harsh psychological and physical conditions, particularly rape, torture and killing. The Indian forces have disrespected universal cultural values and social norms and destroyed Kashmiris’ economic, religious, political rights. They have become fanatics.

The current situation in IOK is heartbreaking and totally against humanity. It is absolutely necessary for the UN to play an active role for the Kashmiris’ freedom. Therefore, it is the moral duty of the international community to play its role for the freedom and rights of innocent Kashmiris from the brutal, cruel, and unjust and dictatorial actions of the India army and the government.
