Can’t we find enough concerned citizens with resources at hand to start such education ventures in our urban areas.
DUBAI: This is with reference to Syed Mohammad Ali’s article of July 13 titled “Is Pakistan no longer in a state of emergency?”
We need people of virtue and high moral standing to come forward and open schools and run them. Social entrepreneurship and participation by such people in society can perhaps fill some of the gap left by Pakistan’s abysmally low public spending on health and education.
An education coop can be made with a pool of resources given by concerned individuals and the funds can be used to subsidise fees and provide grants to students for overseas studies. Also, women who are educated but stay at home could be mobilised to teach in their communities — and this can be basic things such as the alphabet and numbers.
Can’t we find enough concerned citizens with resources at hand to start such education ventures in the urban areas of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad?
