Tax on cleaning in Islamabad

Letter October 22, 2019
Islamabad is the second-most beautiful capital of the world

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad is the second-most beautiful capital of the world. So keeping the city clean is the duty of every citizen in the city as well as the government. But the CDA has failed to keep Islamabad clean. They claim that there are not enough funds for them to maintain cleanliness. Resident of Islamabad will now have to pay a cleaning tax. The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation has decided to charge its citizen a cleaning tax to get their trash bags picked up from outside their houses. The mayor of Islamabad has approved the tax which is applicable across the city. The residents of government quarters and bungalows will pay between Rs300 and Rs1,000. For private houses, it will range from Rs400 to Rs4,000 depending on the size and location of the house. Every household in Islamabad will be charged a fixed monthly fee for the collection of garbage. This is a highly depressing situation as the only solution the government can come up with is tax people. Not everyone is able to pay for this. Other measures need to be taken to keep Islamabad clean.
