KECH: Nowadays dogs are being more dangerous. The population of stray dogs in urban areas is increasing rapidly. It is because of the poor conditions that urban areas are in that dogs are affected by the garbage and filth. When then affected dogs bite humans then diseases spread.
If such dogs are roaming outside, people’s mobility is restricted. Karachi is one of the biggest and most populated cities in Pakistan thus any such infection or disease spreads like wildfire. Recently more than 100 people were bitten by dogs in Karachi in the past few months. This has developed into a major problem for the people of Karachi as dogs are now present at every street corner, ready to bite.
It is my humble request to the authorities concerned to take measures against this problem. However, the killing of dogs is not suggested as it is an inhumane act. Instead, we need to care for these dogs as they are a part of nature. No living thing should be treated with cruelty. Proper shelters and hospitals should be set up to not only take care of this existing problem but also prevent any future problems from happening. The relevant authorities should sit together with agencies concerned with animals in Pakistan and come up with a solution rather than just killing and then dumping them in open fields.
