Economic misery is leading to social and emotional catastrophe as well and an unfortunate degree of stress
ISLAMABAD: The state of educated young people in this country is pitiable. Every day I come across several highly educated and over-aged men and women, hailing from different parts of the country, without a proper full-time job.
I find many of them disgruntled because they applied for various positions multiple times but were not even called for written tests or interviews.
We live in a society where what one knows is not important, rather what is more important is whom one knows. Favouritism and nepotism is prevalent in all spheres of life. Over-aged people without jobs have no funds that will help sustain themselves till they get a job. They become upset and try and find ways to earn money through dishonest means. Thus corruption increases and the country remains in a shambles.
Talented young people are discarded and eventually engage in anti-social activities that can prove detrimental to society. I have also seen many highly educated young men and women taking jobs of drivers, janitors, cleaners, etc. because of a fear of being homeless. Most of the youth constantly try their luck to get a good job but fail. Thus, the overall situation of youth in Naya Pakistan today is actually quite alarming. Economic misery is leading to social and emotional catastrophe as well and an unfortunate degree of stress. Talent is everything and the youth is the future of any country. Indeed, every individual is a member of the human family and makes a contribution to society. How long will we continue losing and discarding talent in this country?
