PESHAWAR: Land has been considered an important asset for centuries. The quest for acquiring land has always been the paramount desire of people. The value of this asset is undeniable as humans need land for shelter, which is a basic need. With the passage of time, population has contributed tremendously in increasing the real estate prices. With the burgeoning population, the need for shelter has immensely increased. Unlike in the past, the new generation has a different view of living. They prefer to live alone. This has aggravated the problem. People in search of work, education and better opportunities migrate from rural areas to urban areas, increasing the demand for land. As a result, the cities have become congested.
This trend has hugely increased the real estate prices. Also, it has widened the gap between the haves and have-nots. Such a worrisome state that Pakistan’s economy is in, it’s difficult for the commoners to make ends meet, let alone buy real estate. The government had promised before elections to provide affordable houses. It’s time to fulfil that promise.
