TURBAT: The chief minister has initiated the Green Balochistan project of tree plantation drive. More 3.3 million trees will be planted in Turbat in order to protect the environment.
Furthermore, many campaigns have been launched to create awareness about climate change and its consequences. Temperatures are on the rise with every passing year. Necessary steps need to be taken to arrest this tendency.
Let’sGreen Turbat team had successfully planted thousands of trees in different areas of Turbat, including Atta Shad Degree College, Turbat University, children’s parks and private and government schools. They have also distributed trees to the public so that they plant them in their houses.
Many fruit trees also will be planted. In recent years, the intensity of heatwaves has been increasing. Turbat has not received rain for the past seven years resulting in water shortage. Residents are also experiencing prolonged power cuts. Shortages of electricity and water are affecting agriculture.
This year, the mercury hit 54 degrees Celsius in Turbat. Scientists have predicted that over the next 10 years it will climb to 58 degrees Celsius. The authorities should step up efforts to combat climate change.
