Inflation and unemployment

As Imran's govt struggles to cope with these challenges

LARKANA: In economic terms the phenomenon of high inflation with high unemployment is commonly known as ‘twin evils’. Collectively, they are termed stagflation. Currently, stagflation has endangered the future of the poor. They find it difficult to make ends meet. It is becoming increasingly difficult for them to afford medical treatment. Pakistan is blessed with an abundance of natural resources, renewable and as well as non-renewable. But due to the lack of effective policies it is experiencing inflation and unemployment.

According to the World Bank, unemployment rate reached its peak in 2018. Imran Khan’s government is unable to cope with these challenges. Stagflation and poverty are restricting Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. The government should have inclusive policies instead of extractive. It should hire the services of professional economist and avail new technologies to put the country on the road to development and progress.
