Lack of educational facilities

Letter July 22, 2019
Most students do not know how to read even after receiving primary education

TURBAT, BALOCHISTAN: Kiken is a small village situated 40 kilometers away on the eastern side of Turbat. The village lacks a well-equipped middle school due to which students are disappointed and quit studies after completing their primary education.

However, the village population has been increasing by the day. As a result, many of the students are facing multiple problems. The village has only one small primary school in which students are able only to study up to the fifth grade. Most students do not know how to read even after receiving primary education. Parents of intelligent students cannot afford to send them to cities for higher studies.

A few students have started to join Shahrak high school which is in another village that is far away from Kiken. It is because the students face such hardships and problems that they end up getting demotivated and give up their studies. I urge the government of Balochistan to open at least a high school in Kiken.
