The government needs to stop neglecting the youth and wasting their skills
TURBAT: At its General Assembly in November 2014, the United Nations declared 15th July 2015 the first World Youth Skills Day. The aim of marking this day was to create a space for the youth to showcase their skills. There are countless children across the world who possess wonderful skills and are very talented. All they need is appreciation from their government and the right environment to develop something extraordinary in the future. Unfortunately for our youth, our government has failed to create such a space for them, nor have they encouraged the youth in being creative. The country presents a negative picture. Governments have not ever tried to help them show their skills before the world. According to reports, a young boy from Karachi had made a machine that would tell whether children have brushed their teeth or not, and if yes, for how long. Other private initiatives have started a ‘street art’ competition among the street children of Turbat.
The initiative aims to encourage young children to show their talent and art skills. One of them made a painting on a wall which won the best prize and attracted various views of the public. However, these private initiatives are not enough. The government needs to stop neglecting the youth and wasting their skills. They need to be encouraged and given the right guidance to endure they are successful in their endeavours. This will help in putting Pakistan on the map with other technologically advanced countries.
The government should encourage talented students to make advancements. We have enough talents in every walk of life. They only need proper guidance and encouragement and a helping hand.
