QUETTA: A Pakistani teenager is asked about grades by complete strangers during their first meeting. People will only hear and respect your opinion if you are a high achieving student, as that means even the examiner agrees with your intelligent opinions. Held in high esteem by your friends and family, you will have a huge ego and the indomitable fear of failure. You have nightmares of accidentally losing a mark on a test or failing an exam. As our behaviour changes, we rarely address the root cause of this ego boost and fear of failure. We are unable to apply our textbook knowledge to practical situations, even though we have unconsciously been trained to fit into the huge wall of workers, like a brick. At the end, we are just a finished product newly out of a factory, to slave away at a 9 to 5 job every day, for the rest of our lives.
