ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to Salman Rashid’s article of July 1 titled “Myth of the Silk Route”. Regardless of what the writer is saying, the fact remains that the route he is talking about is beautiful and I have spent one of the most memorable weeks of my life on it. The Karakoram Highway winds through some of the most fascinating scenery anywhere in the world and no traveller, no matter how worn out he may be, cannot be affected by it is beauty and charisma. Presently, I am reading books on the Silk Route (the original one — and there were many branches to it) and as soon as I get some information on the exact route(s) I will update your readers.
