Along with the government, the public also needs to realise the issues our country is facing
RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Imran Khan is the first head of our state to take the initiative to launch the Pakistan Citizen Portal. The portal allows the public to lodge their complaints regarding institutions they are struggling with. The complaint is then redirected to the heads of the departments concerned. If left unattended, the PM himself personally takes notice and directs the relevant people to take action. The portal also has an option for citizens to give suggestions. I believe the public can also vent out their concerns and frustrations this way, and they would feel like they are being heard because of the swift action. However, there have been reports of the portal not addressing certain concerns. This could possibly be because the platform is not being used the way it should be. Along with the government, the public also needs to realise the issues our country is facing and prioritise them accordingly. Most of the concerns raised on the portal are superficial and not as important as the matters that need to be urgently resolved at the national level. However, it is commendable that our people have started speaking up for their rights. Our government needs to work on the education, health, water crises which affect all citizens. Special emphasis needs to be given to education, as we really need to upgrade our syllabus and the out-dated methodology in use. Pressuring children into memorising the coursebook is not enough as it does not develop intellect. When we have fulfilled these basic needs, only then can we work towards the next level where people must give suggestions and implement them.
