Milk delivery in UK

We just need facilities to ensure the bottles are cleaned hygienically

KARACHI: I came across a video on Facebook about a town in the UK, where milkmen have revived the old practice of delivering milk at people’s doorsteps. Now milkmen deliver fresh milk in glass bottles every morning and collect the empty bottles left outside residents’ homes. The video showed the return of the milkman, in bids to cut down on the use of plastic bottles. The glass bottles would be washed and sterilised before being reused. It reminded me of the old days, where we had similar services. Beverage companies also made use of glass bottles that could be returned at the store. If we were to bring back these practices, we would be able to cut down on plastic use drastically. We just need facilities to ensure the bottles are cleaned hygienically.
