Our team is still in the game and such abuses will only bring down their morale
MULTAN: A recent video of the Pakistan cricket captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, is making the rounds on social media. The video is made by two supposed ‘fans’ of the team who had found the captain in a mall in London, trying to console his crying son.
The two go on to abuse the captain by directing insults on his physique and calling him names. The video shows a shameful act that was committed by two people who are portraying themselves as supporters of the game, and are offended by the team’s performance.
It is no secret that the Pakistani Cricket Team has not been performing as well as we would like it to in the World Cup. Sarfaraz Ahmed was humble enough to admit the team is struggling and they need to get their act together.
As followers of the game, people should criticise the strategies employed by the team and the management, or the lack of skills displayed by players.
Hurling personal insults — and that too to somebody’s face as they try to calm their crying child — is stooping to the lowest point of humanity. Our team is still in the game and such abuses will only bring down their morale further.
Not to mention the impact such an incident will have on a young child as he hears his father being subjected to such insults. We forget that these are the same players we celebrate when they win championships, and we drag them down for poor performance in such a disgusting manner. Kudos to the captain for maintaining his calm and ignoring such ill-willed people!
