
If people are not educated in how democratic processes work, how will they be able to judge what’s going on?
LONDON: This is with reference to Ibrahim Khan’s article of June 30 titled “Strengthening our democracy”. The fact of the matter is that if people are not educated in how democratic and legislative processes work, how will they be able to effectively judge what’s going on?
Furthermore, the most important issues are discussed in in-camera sessions — why? This may not be a bad idea per se but surely such things need to be made public so that there is greater transparency in governance and policymaking.
