This might also serve as a rebuttal to the recent attempts by the Indian govt to put Pakistan on FATF blacklist
ISLAMABAD: According to a recent news report, the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) of the United Nations has restored Pakistan’s status as a ‘family station’, which it had lost due to security concerns. After conducting a security analysis, the organisation deemed Pakistan to be a destination safe enough for its employees to travel to and reside in with their family.
This change in status seems to be a silver lining, against the backdrop of the current political climate of the country. Knowing that an organisation, such as the United Nations, deems the country safe enough, acts as an assurance for not just its employees, but also for us citizens as a whole.
Given the uncertain times we have lived through, one almost feels blessed to know that our country’s security situation has improved vastly. This might also serve as a rebuttal to the recent attempts by the Indian government to put Pakistan on the Financial Action Task Force blacklist for sponsoring terrorism. While we barely dodged this bullet due to support from our longtime ally China as well as Turkey and Malaysia, surely the security survey and analysis by the United Nations must also have played a role.
