Child marriage takes away the innocence and care-free nature of childhood
TURBAT: In our country not much notice is taken of child marriages. According to a Unicef report, approximately 115 million males across the world are married when they are children. Of these, 23 million of are married before the age of 15.
Child marriage takes away the innocence and care-free nature of childhood as the groom is then burdened with responsibilities, such as earning for his new family. The added pressure also takes a toll on the boy’s physical health.
Despite knowing the negative impacts of child marriage, parents and communities still force their children to take on the responsibilities of adults — something that they are not ready for nor willing to do. They are burdened with family responsibilities when they are not even able to take decisions regarding their own destiny.
