Pressure on students

Letter May 23, 2019
Parents should let their children choose their career and not pressure them

TURBAT: All children are born different and excel at different things as students. If allowed to follow their dreams, our children can change our country through their talent and ambition. However, most families pressure their children into pursuing a certain field, irrespective of their interest or whether they excel in that subject or not. When forced to follow a particular field they do not want to, they often come under pressure. They are unable to score good marks and this further adds to their misery. Students sometimes take on so much stress that they suffer breakdown or commit suicide to escape the ‘torture’ they are in. Parents should let their children choose their career and not pressure them into doing something they are not interested in.
