HYDERABAD: The Green Shirts have once again disappointed their fans, as they were whitewashed by the English host team.
Even though bowling has always been the main weapon of the Pakistani cricket team, it was still not enough to restrict the English batsmen from scoring big throughout the series.
Our batsmen set big totals of 358 and 340 runs in the third and fourth ODIs, respectively; however, our bowlers failed to defend the totals and save both the games. The performance of the fielders was also abysmal as they dropped numerous catches and were unable to stop the English from scoring boundaries throughout the series.
The only positive thing from our side was the performance of our batsmen, particularly Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq, Babar Azam and Asif Ali.
The World Cup is around the corner. As the leader of the team, skipper Sarfraz Ahmed should learn lessons from the mistakes of the team, and prepare it to give the World Cup a 100 per cent. The team management should rethink the team’s selection for the upcoming championship and must include aggressive batsmen and key bowlers like Mohammad Aamir in the 15- man squad.
