One thing that Dr Rahman mentioned has offended humanities and social sciences students.
KHAIRPUR MIRS: This is in reference to Dr Tariq Rahman’s article of June 19 titled “The ranking of universities”. On the whole, the article was informative. But one thing that Dr Rahman mentioned has offended humanities and social sciences students. Dr Rahman mentions that about 40 years ago, students of the said faculties were hardly given 60 per cent marks to reach first division. And now some substandard universities produce average students who achieve over 60 per cent for the duration of their degree programme.
If students of engineering, medical and natural sciences and law can secure high marks then why cannot their counterparts in the social sciences and humanities?
