It is unfortunate to see that majority of the educated people continue to support the idea of early marriages
GUJRAT: The hashtag #endchildmarriage has been the top trend on social media this week, and numerous people have given their opinions on the topic. It is unfortunate to see that majority of the educated people continue to support the idea of early marriages. They advance flimsy arguments in support of their opinions and when they are told they are propagating misogyny, they are quick to label those people as misguided liberals. In the modern age, it is anachronistic to support child marriage. Now girls have to be equipped with education before their marriage. Women should not be forced into early and disastrous marriages. Women are human beings and they have rights like other human beings. Early marriages also have harmful effects on women’s health.
